Usually it takes 2-3 weeks to receive the receipt numbers. My lawyer sent my file on 06/06/2007 which should have reached USCIS on 06/07/2007. I am not expecting a receipt number before third week of June. I will post here when I receive my receipt.

There has been some pickup in contributions, however based on this average, we may only reach 25% of our funding goal. Some things like reserving conference rooms, appointments, need to be done well in advance.
If anyone already has other large financial commitments you could even send a check for a smaller amount and post it here for accounting. Please also let all your friends know about this event and attend and/or contribute. I promise to contribute more.

We'll do these things for common/generic issues like visa recapture,not counting dependents visas,removing per country quota.
#1.EB3s will start contributing , let's say $100 Each
#2.EB2s will match the amount in #1
#3.GC holders(Both EB2&EB3 - IV members) will contribute $250 to help their IV friends.

Thanks for the reply, Do you mean proceed with corp-to-corp between current Y(employer) and Prior-employer X(by paying h1b tranfer fee). Sign the Agreement with Employer X to continue GC and then sue them ? ?hmmm... interesting.
Before accepting an Employement with company X, if there would have been an agreement stating they will sponsor my green card (atleast the paperwork), that would have helped me.. hard luck..

Guys I am looking at this thread for the first time today and want to put some comments:
1) 3 people were making hunger strike at SJSU over the last weekend for DREAM act and we come to know about it thru 1510 AM, KLIVE in Bay Area.
2) Immigration Voice members are planning to make a rally in SJ and we need to read it in the forum of (only) their website.
3) We are hungry about media coverage and want utmost attention of the congressmen about our issues.
BUT, you know what we are missing?:
1) No postings on the windows of those Bharat Bajars and Cash N Carrys and Kumuds. Can't the i-phone designers and router gurus make Ashas and Abhijeets invisible with some eye catching posters?
2) No postings on those other popular websites like murthy.com, immigration-law.com, bata.org etc. Did they say no for this?
3) No usage of the library notice boards.
4) No usage of SMS. Isn't it much cheaper than making contributions to the IV repeatedly?
I hope to see all these channels being utilized fully for July 14/21 march in Bay Area before we talk about CNNs and WPs.
Once the streets of SJ are hit with 1000+ people, those NBCs and CNNs and SJMs will come to us rather than we going to them.
As for myself, I am in whenever the event takes place and will try to bring at least 5 of my friends to the march.

Its unfortunate that you ask us to UNITE and use 'EB2 elitist protectionism' in the same breath. I am not even going down the road of EB3 'smarter' than EB2 because a reverse argument is equally valid if not more. The law as stated above is what it is - there is a clear categorizaton established by law. If there is a level of frustration with it then a campaign to change it makes sense. However any proposed changes that arbitrarily assigns visa numbers just because 'my HR filed it the way it got filed' then you need to check with your HR and port over to EB2 - if you think your private US degree qualifies you for it. The position determines EB2 or EB3 and I'll leave it at that.
I have no problems in people expressing their opinion in an open forum and lobbying for change. The devil is in the detail. If the change means taking the EB2 excess visas to give to EB3 purely based on length of wait then I have every right to present another point of view - elitist protectionism or not.
I have only seen implications to this effect but nobody has come forward and said it plainly - yes we are EB3 and we want the EB2 excess visas because we have waited seven years. Everybody seems to imply it but nobody wants to call it as plainly as I stated it above. I am only presenting a counter to that.

no receipt notice yet. Checks haven't been cashed as of this morning.
i sent application for me and my wife on july 6th NSC my I 140 was applied in TSC . i am NJ resident. wife took info pass appointmnet as no check cashed, no notice receive. started worrying now. as NSC is updating even new applications no sure if my case was transferred to TSC or not . any body in same boat ? application was signed by R williams in NSC.

I have no problem with porting, but the priority date should be starting from when they acquired required qualifications for the job.
Example, if someone with B.S and 2 years experience had applied in EB3 in 2005 and tries to port now I think it is fair to have the ported PD not in 2005, but 2008 when the person acquired B.S + 5 years experience.
This would automatically address all those folks who deserved to be in EB2 but couldnt either becuase lawyer screwed up or issues with sponsoring company.
We got the year..how about the month and day on which to port to eb2?;)

By does not allow to work, I meant, restricted in taking other opportunities that the person might be eligible to take. Even with AC-21, one is restricted to the field in which one originally applied for EB visa. Actually, because it is indefinite, it makes the case stronger that these people are here indefinitely and so should not be restricted in employment opportunities. Although the thread title says "Reimburse the core team" and I know that the core team will not take any money (and do not expect the memebrs to reimburse them) from the fund that we are planning on creating here...Stilll by contributing to this fund we can make sure that core does not have to bear any out of pocket personal expense in future while working on "our" goal.
Lets see how many of us are actually inetested in contributing. Once we have the number we can set a realistic goal and divide amongst ourselves.
For that I suggest we give this thread good two days to develop and check other members responses...
So here is a chance for everyone to contribute to our own goal. Lets keep this going. Who ever is interested pls reply. I will do a final count after 2 days as suggested and take it from there....

Has anyone who filed on July 2nd at Nebraska center and whose case will most likely be transferred to TSC (due to I 140 approved from TSC) got their receipts yet?
