- give a little back ground as to why we are starting this effort

Although the thread title says "Reimburse the core team" and I know that the core team will not take any money (and do not expect the memebrs to reimburse them) from the fund that we are planning on creating here...Stilll by contributing to this fund we can make sure that core does not have to bear any out of pocket personal expense in future while working on "our" goal.
Lets see how many of us are actually inetested in contributing. Once we have the number we can set a realistic goal and divide amongst ourselves.

Did anyone see Byron Dorgan's (Democratic Senator from North Dakota)interview on Stephen Colbert last night? Is Lin for Lincoln, NB or something like that? Is one I-140 and the other I-485?
LIN is the prefix of the id number given to your application if you are applying to Nebraska service center, like WAC is for the california service center. it might possibly mean Lincoln,Nebraska.
I believe all 485(along with 765 and 131) applications should go to Nebraska service center after the bispecilization rule became effective. Not sure where the 140 application should go to though.
here is how you decipher the receipt number, be it from Nebraska,California,Texas,Vermont
LIN-03-123-5-0001
LIN - Service center,LIN for Nebraska,WAC for california,SRC for Texas and EAC for vermont
03 - the year 2003, it should be 07 for this year
123 - working days count from the start of the immigration year(immigration year starts in october i believe)
5 - Not sure what this number is, all i know is, it is 5 for all the 4 service centers
0001 - count of the applications received at this service center on the given day(in this case day-123). This can go from 0001 - 9999 but normally its about 2000-3000 application worst case 5000-6000 applications per day(not sure how they managed when 150,000 H1 applications came in one single day!)

Just called FedEx to find out why mine is not delivered yet. According to her, all USCIS packets remain at local FedEx facility. It seems FedEx will notify USCIS that there are packages to be picked up and they will be picked up by the USCIS agent (mail man??). It seems USCIS dont actually allow packets into their bldg. She says FedEX has no control on when the USCIS agent will come and pick up the package

Mine was supposed to be delivered at 10.30 am via FEDEX but it was delivered to USCIS signed by the mail dept at 9.01 am.
The bulletin was updated between 10.30 and 11 am.I assume USCIS notified all carrier to hold the docs until further notice.

I AM going to face them, confront them, demand them to provide justice, if not I want them to REFUND every penny i have paid so far. If this "I AM" becomes "WE", half the battle won. As an employee, Except for the 485 filing, you are not supposed to pay for anything for the GC. The company that sponsers you pays for all that.
It is illigal for an employee to pay for the GC process.
I am not sure what you are trying to get. Are you going to write a letter to USCIS that you commited an illigal act? And you want to involve bunch of people along with you?

For those of you joining us late, here is some info about this thread.
1. This is to do our least part to the core IV Team for their selfless sacrifice, for all of us getting the benefits of legal immigration. Note that , Aman Kapoor , the co-founder of IV has done his part by sacrificing $64,000/- from his own personal funds towards the administrative costs of IV. Yes you read it right , it is $64,000/- We come to know from his co-worker that he has sold his house towards running this show for us.
2. We have not yet figured out a way to reimburse these costs as IV does not yet have administrative costs part of the expenditure allocation, as we understand it. So instead of a wait and watch, we decided to go ahead with collecting the pledge from the members on the amount they are putting forth for reimbursing the amount. Once we come up with a strategy(members we look for your suggestions on how to get this done, please add your comments) we will instruct the members pledged to pay out.
So do not pay it directly to the IV core funds, yet.
Please help us spread the message about this thread in other threads by copy and pasting the following in other threads too.

you are aware that you can get temporary ead issued from local uscis office if its taking more than 90 days for ead to arrive?

That's called intrim EAD, which, I have mixed feelings about, somewhere I read , USCIS stopped providing intrim ead july 2006.
But somewhere (i don't have a link) I read they started again. I guess, I will try to get infopass and see how it goes.

Guys, I finally got my notices today after 9 months. I called customer service on numerous occasions and opened 2 SR. Most recently, after my case was transferred to NSC, I called the service center on 04/28 and finally they scheduled me. I got an LUD on 04/28 after the call and another one on 04/29. Today I have the notices in my hand with an appointment date of 05/13.
If you're still waiting for your notices, call the service center, explain your situation and don't stop calling until you see an LUD on your case.
