Living off the wealth others have created?? What are you talking about? Also, this issue is not just about programmers. It is about doctors, scientists, engineers and several other qualified professionals. Do some fact-checking rather than being a nitwit. Go take a walk.
Why don't posters on this forum move back to their home country and concentrate on making their home country great instead of slamming into someone else's country and just living off the wealth others have created?
The bottom line is that a SKIL act is not needed. Hundreds of thousands of American programmers have lost their job to the third world, both in outsourcing and insourcing of third world programmers who work for cheaper wages. There is absolutely no need for more foreigners here and no need for more green cards. Temporary workers are just that - temporary. If you are on a temporary visa, work your time, make some money for your family and head home when your time is up. Don't cry that we don't provide enough green cards when you knew what kind of visa you were on.

Approved today !
Had raised a SR for dependent on 5th August . Got standard reply .....initial review, wait for45 days....
Infopass on 10th Aug - was told case is pre adjudicated
Opened SR on the 11th of August for primary . ....Have not yet got any reply for that.
Today got email - Card production ordered.

1. Do I need a Green card at ANY cost ( Any cost = Waiting for yrs, Not willing to risk any other options, afraid to raise issues, not pinpointing flaws )

For the option 2, here we go.I am new to this web site and it seems there are approx 70k people here and lot more outside. Hugh enough to create miracles.
Just to remind ourself who we are. We are Highly skilled LEGAL immigrants. It not only means we are skillful but it also means we pay every damn tax which is out there. We pay for welfare. We pay for unemployed. We pay for pensioners. List goes on. We pay fees for every application processed by USCIS ( Labor, I-140,I-485,I-765,I-131 etc etc ). We pay rent. We buy cars. We buy houses. In short, we are nothing but GOLD to this economy.
However, this one department called USCIS is literally toying with us for yrs now as if we are slaves or we are obligated to them. We dont want anyone to do us any favour. We need justice.
Friends - I have self respect and i wasn't born chanting Green Card. I AM going to face them, confront them, demand them to provide justice, if not I want them to REFUND every penny i have paid so far. If this "I AM" becomes "WE", half the battle won. TOGETHER WE STAND, VICTORY/JUSTICE FOR ALL. If you are still hesitant, you made a bad choice of choosing option 2. Please go back to option 1.

Here are the details:
Mailed to NSC on May 31st.
Received at NSC on June 1st.
Transferred to TSC (I-140 was Approved from TSC)
Receipt Date - June 01
Notice date - June 08
My 485 was filed with NSC on June 1st. It reached NSC on June 4th. We haven't received any receipts so far. I think NSC is still working on June 1st cases. Maybe I need to wait for one more week atleast

Sorry to hear this news , one of my friend has the same situvation. he went back to indian (chenni Appolo) 2 years back.
Here doctors told him all BS and he spent abt 50k out of his pocket on top the insurance (he work for IBM as Full time). he was told that 2 more months so he went back to india and his parents did giveup and they went to take a secound openion he is perfectly allright now he said he will never come back to usa (some unique bactiria causes some kind of cancer i have no clue about what he told me that time and i dont remember exactly contact him raviselvam@yahoo.com or raviselvam@yahoo.co.in if you cant get hold of him contact me bhimireddy@gmail.com i will try to reach him i should have his contact info. hopd you will recover soon

I have a unique position. couple of weeks back I was told that have fatal cancer and won't live pass 4-6 months. After recovering from initial shock I am wondering if my wife will be able to continue her american dream or she will have to head home after me.
I have filed 485 with approved 140 back in june, 2007 with PD of March, 2003

GC comes with a 'sleeve' to keep the card safely. The pouch in the sleeve have special silver lining to prevent 'de-magnetisation' over the period. Please, take due care as its not easy to get replacement.
I was advised so, at SSA. As I was about to put the card in my wallet (Ya, I went to SSA to update my ssn) gentleman at the window interrupted me. I thought I should share this small tip with IVian fella.

it is not to prevent 'de-magnetization' but to prevent rfid communication. All new passport and other govt id 'cards' ship with rfid chip in them which contains encrypted biometrics info. Since rfid info can be read even 10 meters away with right equipment, it is better to put it in a metallic sleeve (creating a Faraday cage) to prevent anyone from sniffing then biometrics info.

It is indeed ugly and disgusting that anyone who talks of doing good to EB3 ends up getting reds. IV should remember that EB3 members outnumber EB2's by a vast margin and they deserve to get justice too
And it is not as if EB3's are less qualified. Most are as much or more qualified and experienced than EB2's. It is just an accident they are in EB3, as companies put them there when there was no difference in USCIS policy between the two
If I continue to see the treatment meted out to EB3's in these forums I would take the decision to quit IV..

I will donate 100 dollars if they make any changes in DREAM Act wrt to Employment based immigration.
Even I participated in the campaign, but I don't think it will impact anything for us.
If you mean IV and are waiting for results to support, consider that we have hired a Lobby in DC and are spending a lot of money in campaigns.
we cannot just give them an IOU and say, we'll pay you later and only if you succeed.
No business works like that. we don't have a charge card to dispute transactions.

The process of getting a permanent residency is a long, winding, time consuming, financially and emotionally draining experience, with no end at sight. After 5 to 10 years of waiting in line, paying taxes, obeying law, many high skilled workers from India find that permanent residency is only a dangling carrot that they may never get it.
One of the biggest hurdles for high skilled immigrants from India is a country cap that limits applicants from any one country from having more than 7% of the available employment based green cards (140,000 visa numbers per year). This means applicants from countries like Andorra and Luxembourg get the same number of green cards as applicants from India and China. This causes a person from India and China to wait 5 to 10 years in order to get permanent residency while applicants from all other countries have zero wait time. We are here in USA because we wanted to be a part of USA, and not because we came from a certain country. All applicants should be treated equally and country cap only allows discrimination by national origin in the disguise of fairness to all, as US has a lot more high skilled workers from India or China than from Andorra or Luxembourg.
President Obama, we are here to pursue the American Dream and we find hurdles at every level during the immigration process. I request you to kindly remove the discriminatory country cap and provide us relief. If you think it is that ridiculuous, then you should tell the core members that. They did ask us to call him on the last day of LD. There is nothing wrong in writing to him. In fact, you are making a comparison that is not correct.
Actually, it was an exceptional situation. As you are well aware of, we had to get an unanimous consent if the skil bill were to pass in the LD, so, we needed to have Session's approval. To deflect the situation, he just said that his office hadnt received any positive comments.. When we ended up jamming his phones and gave all the positive comments, what came out of that, nuthing.. he did not budge from his stance.. It was just a ploy and even if the entire US of A had called him, he would not have changed his stance.. He had to score brownie points from his supporters. He knows that the Skil bill will be passed next year, and may be some form of CIR even.. He can then blame it on the democrats and stand for re-election in 2009 with complete support from his supporters..
Its all a gimmick for votes. This is politics, same thing in every country, just more sophisticated here...

Do remember that their is different receipt for 485, 131, 140 and 765 which means they need to generate more than 80K receipts for July 2nd filers only. I filed in late July. Looks I have to wait more
On aug 9 th, USCIS nebraska center issued a total of 4063 receipt nos for 485, EAD, and APs.

It is correct. We are talking about both kinds of kids. And saying that not having greencard affects the quality of life for the family.
